A little about EJR... Ok, so you are wondering who am I and why in the world I have my own website? Good question... So I decided to add a page to tell you a little about myself. I guess my name is not too hard to figure out. It is Eric J. Rickenbach (and thus the "EJR" on the license plate of my vehicle). I am originally from Ontelaunee Township and graduated from the Schuylkill Valley High School in 1982. About 2 months later I joined the local fire company and ambulance and have been doing this stuff ever since. I currently reside in the village of Rehrersburg in northwestern Berks County, and am active with the Keystone Fire Company of Rehrersburg.. I was very active in the emergency medical services from 1982 until about 1996. Along the way I have earned a slew of certificates, the major ones are: NBPFSQ Fire Fighter I NBPFSQ Fire Instructor I PA Department of Health EMT PA Department of Health Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician PA Department of Health Special Vehicle Rescue Technician PA Department of Health Agricultural Rescue Technician Basic Trauma Life Support PA State Fire Academy Local Level Instructor PA Department of Health Basic Vehicle Rescue Instructor PSU PAgRescue Instructor PEMA 9-1-1 Communications Supervisor and Trainer
I work full-time as the Chief Dispatcher for the Wyomissing Police Department, where I also serve as the Borough's webmaster. I am on the Board of Directors of Adopt an Acre, Inc., a non-profit organization working to preserve agricultural lands.
I have been an instructor for several years now, and for the last several years have been specializing in not only teaching farm rescue, but also farm safety to the various farm groups - sort of my version of fire prevention. I also regularly attend meeting meetings of the PA Department of Agriculture's Farm Safety and Occupational Health Committee. I am also a member of the PA Farm Bureau, the Keystone Chapter - Fire Service Instructors, the Transportation Emergency Response Committee and the PEHSC Rescue Task Force. In addition, I serve as a VRSR evaluator for the Eastern PA EMS Council.
I started the website several years so ago, partially because I wanted to experiment with developing a website, but mostly as a way to get information and pictures out on the classes I do. I have now evolved this into an information sharing page, so if you have something you would like to see posted, let me know. I have plenty of space on the server I use yet. |
